Mittwoch, 02.Mai 2018 - 21:40 - After a successful season is over, ZSC Lions Zurich’s Fredrik Pettersson has been awarded for his outstanding performance in this year‘s Champions Hockey League season.

Totalling 16 points (9 goals/7 assists) in 9 games, Pettersson was the most productive LGT Top Scorer in this year‘s Champions Hockey League. As the Swede was heavily involved with his club - ZSC Lions Zurich were just crowned champions of the Swiss national league a couple of days ago - and with the Swedish national team at the Winter Olympics, the formal hand over of the LGT Top Scorer Award only happened on Wednesday in Zurich.

“I'm proud to recieve this trophy today as it is always a good feeling to help the team by scoring a lot. But of course I have to thank my teammates as well for all the passes they gave. I only still feel a bit bad that our CHL season ended in the Quarter-Finals already and hope that we can do better next season”, Pettersson said.

Stephan Züger, deputy branch head of LGT Bank (Switzerland) Ltd. in Zurich: “As performance is key to win or rather to be successful in our business, too, we congratulate Fredrik Pettersson for being the 2017/18 LGT Top Scorer and LGT wishes him all the best for the upcoming season. We are very proud to be a partner of the Champion Hockey League and looking forward to the new season starting in August.“

Petterson is the fourth Top Scorer who‘ve been awarded at the end of a CHL season, the first under patronage of CHL‘s official partner LGT. “We are happy to see the best scorer of each team also next season wearing the LGT Top Scorer jersey and are keen to know who will succeed Fredrik Pettersson as winner of the LGT Top Scorer Award”, CHL CEO Martin Baumann added.

The first puck in the upcoming CHL season will drop on 30 August with 125 games to follow until the champions of Europe are crowned in an ultimate one-game final on 5 February 2019. ZSC Lions Zurich with LGT Top Scorer Fredrik Pettersson have qualified again and will be seeded as Swiss champions in pot 1 at the Group Stage Draw which takes place on 16 May in Copenhagen (16:00 CET streamed live on CHL digital platforms – media registration still open until 4 May: click here).
