AHL November starts with five home wins

Donnerstag, 02.November 2017 - 5:26 - Leader Rittner Buam, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, HK SZ Olimpija, EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and HC Neumarkt Riwega opened the MOvember on Wednesday with home-wins. Besides HC Pustertal Wolves was successful in their first game under the lead of interim coach Ivo Machacka on the road.

01.11.2017: HK SZ Olimpija – WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan 4:3/SO (0:0,3:1,0:2,0:0,1:0)
In their last home game before the break HK SZ Olimpija welcomed WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan to their icerink. Broncos were clearly in charge in the opening period. They had three power plays at their disposal but failed to convert on all occasions. After the break a stronger Olimpija squad returned from the lockerroom. It took Andrej Hebar only 23 seconds to get his side in front. Broncos killed off a penalty before Luca Felicetti equalized in 36th minute. Olimpija responded to the goal in style. Only 12 seconds had passed before Nik Petek put them back in the driving seat. A bad Broncos change followed. With a man advantage Luka Zorko made it 3:1. Trailing by two Broncos put everything in attack. The dragons defended well but in the end Broncos were rewarded for their efforts. Ben Duffy netted two to put the game into extra time. As there were no goals a penalty shootout followed. In it Kristjan Cepon became the hero beating Gianluca Vallini on a decisive penalty.

01.11.2017: HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice – HC Fassa Falcons 3:0 (1:0,1:0,1:0)
The home team went into this game with big confidence after Monday's big win in Slovenian championship against Celje. Jesenice started with goalie Mark Vlahovi?, it was his debut in the Alps hockey league. Despite Jesenice being a much better team in the first period, they managed to score only one goal. HC Fassa goalie Gianni Scola did a great job, saving 19 shots. The second period started with a 2 min. penalty for Fassa. The home team failed to capitalize on some great chances. In the 33rd minute Urban Sodja scored his first goal of the season with a strong shot. Jesenice team played very disciplined, the didn't have any penalties. In the third period the home team continued to attack and the Fassa goalkeeper did a great job saving a few dangerous shots. In the 43rd minute Jesenice had a powerplay and the captain Andrej Tavželj scored by shoting from a blue line. The result didn't change and Jesenice have won their 11th game.

01.11.2017: Rittner Buam - EC Bregenzerwald 8:4 (4:1; 2:1; 2:2)
Andreas Alber, Max Ploner and Johannes Fauster were absent for the hosts. Among the guests, Dominic Haberl and Thomas Vallant were absent.
Ritten dominated the match from the start and after 15 minutes of play was already ahead for 4: 0. Philipp Pechlaner opened the score after 9 minutes for the his first goal of the season. Then defender Ivan Tauferer (also for him the first goal of this year), Swedish striker Oscar Ahlström and Julian Kostner allowed to Rittner Buam to take on 4:0, effectively closing the game after the first period. But in the last minute of the period Finnish Juuso Mörsky, shortened the distance for the first goal of austrian team.
In the central period, the "Buam" found the fifth net with Dan Tudin, who in powerplay Philip Siutz was punished) overtook the opposite goalkeeper Pietilä. Immediately after Alex Frei scored 6: 1. After this goal the Austrians changed the goalkeeper: Karlo Skec come in the net. Bregenzerwald used 2-man advantage to score the 2th goal of the evening with Jürgen Fussenegger (6:2). During the last period Markus Spinell opened and closed the result. In the middle the visitors found others two goals with Christian Haidinger and Philipp Pöschmann. Ritten won the game for 8:4 as they earned the 8th win in a row for the leader of Alps Hockey League.

01.11.2017: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - HC Pustertal Wölfe 1:7 (0:1; 1:3; 0:3)
There are so much news for this South Tyrolean derby. The home team presented their new defender Radek Deyl, a former Slovak national player, replacing the Finnish Jere Ölander, whose contract was not extended. On the bench of the Wolves there was Ivo Machacka as interim coach as Mark Holik finished his role on Tuesday, 30 October. The start of the game was definitely the Wolves player, Eric Pance, who scored the only goal of the first period (after 7 minutes) and then scored again after one minute from the start of the second period. The game, however, was always in balance with a Gherdeina who halved the disadvantage with the newcomer Deryl Deyl shortly after the middle. Then home team had four minutes of powerplay in which they could score. But the goal came from a guest Raphael Andergassen who in counterattack allowed Val Pusteria to score the third goal (37th) in shorthanded situation. This episode turned the match decisively in favour of the Wolves who then made the fourth goal with Armin Helfer. In the third time, the most experienced players in the Val Pusteria showed up with the goals of Armin Hofer, Patrick Bona and Max Oberrauch. The Val Pusteria won 7:1 on the road as they retained confidence.

01.11.2017: HC Neumarkt Riwega - S.G. Cortina Hafro 4:3/OT (1:1; 1:2; 1:0; 1:0)
Zachary Torquato returned to play for Cortina after six rounds of suspension. The game was fast and fought from the first faceoff. Cortina took the lead after 13 minutes. The home team lost the puck as they couldn’t free their defensive zone. After some rebounds, Riccardo Lacedelli hit the back of the net with an empty goal. However, Cortina, while controlling the game, didn’t made other goal. Neumarkt played with sacrifice and believed it. When only 33 seconds were missing at the end of the first period, Kamil Brebanec had a nice assist to help Joseph Harcharik, who didn’t any mistake in the front of the net. In the second half, Cortina scored two goals in the middle time. First it was Zachary Torquato's goal with a medium distance shot and then on counterattack Edoardo Caletti, one minute later, scored the third goal of the guests. But Wild Geese answered immediately as they found another goal of Harcharik with a deflection after a shot from the distance. During the third time, Neumarkt played the best minutes of his season. The home team defended with order and then reached the tie with youngest David Galassiti less than three minutes from the end of the period. Neumarkt won in the overtime thank to the goal of former player of Cortina Tobias Brighenti who fixed the final score 4:3 for the home team.

01.11.2017: EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – EC-KAC II 2:0 (0:0,1:0,1:0)
EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel was the chief on the ice against EC-KAC II, what is occupied by the shots on goal statistic from 53:21! Even the Tyroleans dominated the game, it took them 26 minutes to score the lead from Henrik Hochfilzer. Both teams got chances to practice Power Play. But Kitzbühel failed to take advantage from nine Power Plays and Klagenfurt could not score from four Power Plays. And so the game stayed thrilling until the end. But finally 105 seconds before the end Peter Lenes made the 2:0 assisted by Sprukts. KEC-Goalie Jose Kangaskorte made 21 saves and celebrated a Shut Out.
