Dornbirn does it again: victory against Schwenningen

Samstag, 31.August 2013 - 8:12 - In the last pre-season test at home the Dornbirner Eishockey Club was able to work out a 4:3-victory against the Schwenninger Wild Wings. It was a highly competitive game against the DEL-opponent. And similar to last week's game in Schwenningen the Bulldogs came out on top.

Some of the DEC-players (Dennis, Grabher-Meier, Brooks) were missing today, due to minor injuries they had suffered during practice. That's how David Madlener got to play in the net for his first whole game with the Bulldogs. The Wild Wings took off to a good start. Tyler Beechey (7.) and Nick Petersen (10.) gave the guests a 2:0-lead just after a few minutes into the game. Both teams played very physical in the first twenty minutes, the game lacked a flow of play.

In the second period the Bulldogs finally found their game. In a powerplay situation Graham Mink (25./PP1) narrowed the gap to 1:2. Shortly after Niki Petrik failed to equalize the score with a penalty shot. Schwenningen, seeking revenge for last week's loss at home, played exceedingly aggressive. The outcome was lots of penalties, that none of the teams were able to take advantage of.

Strong finish for the Bulldogs
Due to some rough bodychecks Jonathan D'Aversa und Chris D?Alvise were both out of the game by minute 40. Although missing those two leaders Dornbirn came back, scoring the 2:2 in minute 41. Graham Mink succeeded with a smashing shot. Three minutes later it was slovenian national team player Marcel Rodman (44.) who scored again for Schwenningen. Luciano Aquino responded with his first goal for the Bulldogs (3:3; 52.). Last but not least it was Niki Petrik's chance again, and this time the puck made it into the net (54.), to not only top off Petrik's great play tonight, but also help his team win 4:3.
