Dienstag, 26.August 2014 - 8:05 - Fehervar AV19, HC Orli Znojmo, HDD Telemach Olimpija Ljubljana, Graz and KAC will play friendly games in the upcoming days.

Fehérvár AV19 continued its preparation for the upcoming Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season with two more games against Slovak opponents last week, first beating Nitra 4:1, then playing a tied 5:5 game against Nove Zamky both on the road. “Nitra is a very skilled Slovak elite team, the most skilled team we played during our Slovak camp. They totally outplayed us the first period, if it wasn’t for Miklós Rajna, it could’ve been been 4:0 for Nitra after twenty minutes. We had to make certain adjustments and fortunately you don’t win a hockey game in twenty minutes however badly your opponent performs. We had solid last forty minutes and it could’ve been a 6-1 win since we hit the post twice in the third period. We had ten very young players in our line-up against Nove Zamky and some are really making an impact, Márk Szaller has really impressed us. With other players, we are still trying to figure our their willingness to play”, summarized head coach Rob Pallin.

A tough week of training awaits the players of Fehérvár this week before playing two home games against Slovak side Detva on Thursday and Friday. “ We’ll work very hard on and off the ice this week, we’ll push the guys mentally and physically to be fully prepared for the season. It will be a tough week for the players. We’ll stress defensive zone coverage this week over and over and over again and we’ll work on our special teams. My coaching philosophy is you win and lose games with powerplay and penalty-kill and you must be absolutely solid in your defensive zone. I don’t care about the team we’re playing on Thursday and Friday, we must play 110 percent starting this week. If the score is tied but we played our best, I’ll be satisfied – said Rob Pallin.

Znojmo faces Boleslav and Kladno for the second time
HC Orli Znojmo will play its Pre-Season-games seven and eight this week. On Tuesday the Red Eagles host Mlada Boleslav and on Thursday they travel to Kladno. Against both teams the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga-club played already during this Pre-Season. While Znojmo won against Kladno 3:2, they lost against Boleslav lately 0:2. "We know Boleslav and Kladno are both good teams and we hope they will be at their best against us to properly test us before the season. We will miss Jan Lattner and Martin Baca on Tuesday because of some minor health problems and we will rotate the team a little bit, too. But next week in the game against Mountfield, I´d like to have the lineup ready for the season", said Head Coach Jiri Reznar. In the practice the Czechs are focusing on their Special Teams: "Everything has to be improved, but of course we are focusing on our Penalty Killing and Power Play as these moments can be key in many games.", knows the Czech.

Chiodo makes his debut for Olimpija
HDD TELEMACH Olimpija Ljubljana travels to Hungary this week to play two friendly games against Miskolc on Thursday and polish Champion HK Sanok on Friday. Goalie Andy Chiodo, who arrived on Sunday in Slovenia, will make his first games for Olimpija. Today and on Tuesday the dragons are on a team-building-event in the mountains in Slovenia. Not with the team are Trelc and Cepon, both are practicing with the U20-National team.

Tomi Wilenius, Miha Verlic and Stefan Lassen will miss the game.

Klagenfurt hosts Zagreb
EC-KAC plays its home-opener on Wednesday against Medvescak Zagreb. “The fans will get to see a fast, intense game with good skating and many goal-scoring-chances”, believes Head Coach Martin Stloukal. The coach and some players are not healthy: “I hope everybody is fit soon.”
