Mittwoch, 26.Februar 2014 - 7:49 - HC Orli Znojmo added forward Juraj Sykora to their roster before the eagles-clash in Villach.

EC VSV lost the first game after the Olympic break in Linz 3:5 and is now already three points behind the top four. After the first period the Eagles were back already 2:4. A fact Head Coach Hannu Järvenpää was not satisfied about: „We lost the game already in the first period. We made three mistakes that cost us three goals. Without these mistakes, we have a chance to win against everybody.” On Wednesday the Eagles now host HC Orli Znojmo. For staying in touch with the Top four and holding alive the chances for home-advantage for the Quarterfinals Villach needs a win. “Znojmo is a strong team, like they showed yesterday. We must be ready and play a simple game”, added the Fin, who has Benjamin Petrik back after a suspension. Brock McBride and Markus Peintner are questionable.

HC Orli Znojmo had a perfect start after the Olympic break, beating Bozen at home 4:1. With this win the Czechs also stayed in touch with the Top 4, are now even just two points behind the second place. “After the break we wanted to have a good start and continue the way we stopped before it. We are glad, that it worked that well”, reported forward Martin Podesva. On Wednesday the Czechs now travel to Villach. So far this year Villach won three times, Znojmo twice. “Our big aim is to get the Pick-right and home-advantage for the Play-offs and therefore for us only count wins. We know, that Villach has good players, a good Power Play and is strong at home, so we must play a good defensive-game”, added Podesva.
The Czechs also added with Juraj Sykora a new forward to their line-up. He is coming from HK Astana in Kazakhstan where he played 14 games this season. The 30-years-old Slovak raised up with Slovan Bratislava and won later 3 Slovak league titles with the team before moving to Kosice, winning another 2 championships. He also played for Vitkovice in Czech Extraliga for two seasons and has International experience from 2 ECC tournaments and 1 Spengler Cup. "He is a tall and strong forward and very good in defensive work," said Znojmo head coach Jiri Reznar.
