Teilen auf facebook

Donnerstag, 30.Januar 2014 - 7:57 - After beating Vienna and Znojmo HCB Südtirol is in a very good position now in the fight for home-advantage and the Pick-right for the Play-offs!

In this moment the Foxes are third in the table. Before the Olympia-break the Italians have two more games against EC VSV, on Thursday at home and less than 48 hours later in Villach. The Austrians are three points back the fifth placed team in the Pick-Round. Head Coach Tom Pokel expects just two key rounds in the fight for the home-advantage and Pick-right: „This will be a very important weekend. Znojmo meets Salzburg, Vienna plays Linz and we play twice against Villach. The two rounds could already make a preliminary decision in the battle for the home-advantage and Pick-Right. Villach has the two Top-scorers of the league in their team, so we have to play well defensively and compact again." In their four games in the Pick-Round so far Jaroslav Hübl and Company got only four goals. Lately Bozen beat HC Orli Znojmo even 4:0. “We play very compact and we are a team. Everybody gives also always 110 percent. And also our Special Teams work better again. We even score now shorthand”, added the US-American, who misses forward John Esposito. Next week the team gets free. Pokel spends the days with the Italian National Team in Poland, playing Hungary, the hosts and team Belarus. On 8th February starts then the preparation for the last part of the season. Also two or three friendly games against teams from Switzerland and KHL are planed between 15th and 20th of February in Bozen.

After the wins against HC Orli Znojmo and EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz EC VSV is back in the fight for home-advantage for the Quarter-finals. Present Villach is fifth, but just one point behind place four. On Thursday the Eagles now travel to Bozen and just two day later follows the re-match in Villach. In the direct duel the Carinthians lie back 1:3. In Bozen Villach lost both games and scored just twice in 120 minutes. And the Italians got just four goals in the four games in the Intermediate Round. “In Villach everything is okay. I expect two good and equal games. Both teams are looking for four points. My players will certainly find gaps to score“, said Head Coach Hannu Järvenpää, whose teams scored already eleven goals in the Pick-Round. More goals made only leader Red Bull Salzburg (14). VSV misses Brock McBride (injured) and Benjamin Petrik (suspended).
