Mittwoch, 05.Oktober 2016 - 7:42 - EC Red Bull Salzburg was in Champions Hockey League action: The team of head coach Greg Poss lost the home game against Swiss side SC Bern 1:4.

SC Bern surprised the hosts with their fast and physical game. The Red Bulls were better than in their last EBEL games but Thomas, Flood and Welser missed good chances. At the other end Maxim Noreau opened the scoring after a solo attempt and soon after mark Arcobello doubled the lead, going top shelf on a breakaway. In the middle frame the Swiss side upped the tempo once again and controlled the game. It was characteristic that Arcobello had the best chance (hitting the post) during a 5 on 3 power play for the Bulls. After a goalless second the guests added a third and fourth by Blum and Captain Plüss. With 39 seconds to go Bill Thoma got Salzburg on the scoreboard for the final 1:4 result. In one week there is the return leg for promotion to the round of 16 in Bern.

EC Red Bull Salzburg – SC Bern 1:4 (0:2,0:0,1:2)
Goal RBS: Thomas (60.)
Goals SCB: Noreau (9), Arcobello (11.), Blum (45./pp), Plüss (51.)
