Mittwoch, 15.Januar 2014 - 21:22 - 44 rounds are already played in the Erste Bank Eishockey League, already on Friday the Intermediate Round starts, time for a review.

773.057 fans attended the previous 264 games, which is an average of 2.928 spectators per game. Although the tight schedule, due to the early Divisional I world championship and the enjoyable fact of Austria and Slovenia participate in the Olympics, 2/3 of the clubs were able to increase their spectator-average in comparison to 2011/12. „We knew, after Zagreb was leaving the league– with around 175k fans an European top 15 ranked team in the spectator stats – and the fact of the NHL lockout – 2012/13 was an absolutely spectator record season. But despite the shortened Playoffs we will again have over a million spectators in the end“, stated League manager Christian Feichtinger.

Already six teams for sure in the playoffs
As in 2012/13 also this year the UPC Vienna Capitals will start as the leader, with four bonus points, into the Intermediate Round. Also EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz, EC Red Bull Salzburg, HCB Südtirol, HC Orli Znojmo and EC VSV are already qualified for the playoffs. All six teams will fight for the pick-right in the so called Pick Round.

The teams ranked seventh til twelfth will fight for the last two spots in the playoffs in the Qualification Round.

1.611 goals were scored
Until now 1.611 goals were scored by 233 different players, which was an average of 6,1 goals per game. With Adam Munro of HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie” also a goalie hit the net once, the most goals (200) were scored in the last five minutes of the games, VSV scored the most (264), the Vienna Capitals with 103 goals against received the fewest.

The fastest goal was also the first goal of the season: Benjamin Petrik (EC VSV) scored in the first game of the year versus Dornbirn after just seven seconds.

Series of victories
From the 22nd of October until the 26th of November the EC Red Bull Salzburg could stay undefeated for twelve games. EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz could win twelve consecutive home games. Linz is the best home team, the best most successful team on the road is HC Orli Znojmo.
The two topscorers of the league are both playing for EC VSV. Derek Ryan is leading the league with 71 points (32G/39A), John Hughes is second with 70 points. Ryan has also the most goals scored (32) Hughes leads the league in assists (49). The best goalies are Mike Ouzas (Black Wings Linz) and Dany Sabourin (Graz 99ers) with a saving percentage of 92,4%. Villach’s J.P. Lamoureux had the most shutouts (4).

Decrease of penalties
The stats show that, since the implementation of the Department of Player Safety (DOPS), there was a decrease of the amount of penalties. In 2010/11 there were 13,3 penalties per game, there were only 10,5 penalties per game spoken out of the referees.

Also the amount of major penalties decreased. Only one match penalty and 20 game misconducts happened in 264 games, last year there were 10 match penalties and 45 game misconducts.
