Montag, 16.September 2013 - 6:15 - HC Orli Znojmo lost on Sunday against Moser Medical Graz99ers after a 2:0-lead 2:3 after Shoot-out.

Znojmo had an opportunity to take an early lead with a powerplay, but they didn’t took advantage of it. Even though both teams played well with lots of hits and showed some active plays, first bigger chance came deep in the 9th minute when Lattner and Jarusek outnumberd the visitors. However, former NHL netminder Sabourin proved his skills and stopped the puck. Graz had a powerplay too later in the first period, but in fact, they were lucky not to concede a goal, since they let Baros with Beranek into a breakaway. Bartos’s shot was stopped by Sabourin’s shoulder.

Graz started the second period shorthanded, but the penalties came soon also on the other side and the Eagles even had to kill a 5-on-3 powerplay of the visitors. However, it lasted just a few seconds. Znojmo played well and forced Sabourin to make some decent saves – Havlik’s shot ended on his pads, Podesva’s one in his glove. Kilnar then missed a wide-opened net in another great chance. Next opportunity for the home side came later during a powerplay. However, Pucher missed the open goal as well as Kilnar a moment earlier. Kisanewich then wasn’t able to beat Ullberg in a great opportunity for Graz and failed to break a deadlock.

The final period was marked by two goals of the home team, which finally found a way to beat great Sabourin. At first, it was Jan Lattner, who deflected brilliantly a blue line attempt of Havlik and since the visitors failed to response in a powerplay, the Eagles stroke again. This time, it was Jiri Beroun in one-on-one breakaway deep in 48th minute, whose shot went through the defender as well as through Sabourin and found the back of the net. Znojmo played well and controlled the game as well as the lead. However, Graz managed to turn the rising pressure into a gap-decreasing goal, even while shorthanded. Francis Lemieux snaped the puck behind Ullberg with an assist from his own goalkeeper Sabourin. In the end, it was one-sided game as the Austrians showed a massive effort to get that equalizer and they were rewarded just on time as Oliver Latendresse deflected Ganahl’s shot behind Ullberg in the very last minute of the final period to make it even. Because the overtime didn’t lead to a game-decision, a penalty shoot-out (Znojmo now with Cech instead of Ullberg in the net) followed. Here decided Latendresse the game for Graz.
