Samstag, 16.Dezember 2017 - 7:05 - In Erste Bank Eishockey Liga all five games were decided by just one goal on Friday, successful were Leader Vienna Capitals, HC Orli Znojmo, EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz, EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC VSV.

Miller scores hat-trick in Eagles overtime win over Graz
Graz had more chances in the opening period and could take the lead many times but failed to convert chances. Higgs, Oberkofler and Brophey were all denied by Marek Schwarz in Znojmo net. The home side pushed after the 10-minute mark. Yellow Horn tested Toivonen and eventually Eagles got themselves on the board thanks to Adam Miller and his close-range rebound. 99ers equalized after the break. Justin Buzzeo netted an equalizer on a breakaway with a shot under the crossbar. Daniel Oberkofler then turned the game in Graz´s favor midway through the period with a high shot after a mistake in Znojmo´s defense. And things got even better for the visitors when a long powerplay was converted into a 3-1 lead again by Buzzeo. Znojmo at least pulled one back before the break thanks to Tomas Pastor and his blue-line shot into the top corner. Znojmo pushed for an equalizer in the third period and eventually got it when David Bartos got into a breakaway and slid his shot under Toivonen´s pad and into the net. However, just when Eagles were in the ascendancy, 99ers struck again, this time through Kurtis McLean and his clever deflection with six minutes to go. But man of the match was supposed to be Adam Miller. The US forward first equalized with five minuts left on the clock after a mistake in opponent´s defense and in overtime, scored the winning goal from the slot after being set up by Raska.

Caps won in Innsbruck
The game between HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ and the Vienna Capitals was an even fight in the first 20 minutes. The best chances for the Tyroleans missed Fabio Schramm, Andrew Yogan and John Lammers in a Powerplay, while Kelsey Tessier and Jerry Pollastrone coudn‘t beat goalie Patrik Nechvatal. After the re-start the Caps took over the control of the game: In minute 24 Peter Schneider scored the 1:0 for the Champion with a big shot. The Tyroleans tried to answer, but the guests defense didn‘t allow many chances in period 2. The Sharks became most dangerous in a Power Play, but goalie JP Lamoureux was not to beat. On the other side Schneider finished a solo for the 2:0 in minute 37. In period 3 the hosts tried hard to come back. Finally Ondrej Sedivy finished a perfect pass from Mitch Wahl for the 1:2. But the Champion stayed unimpressed and answered just two minutes later: Philippe Lakos extended the lead with a „Blueliner“ again. The Sharks did not give up. Eight minutes before the end Andrew Yogan finished a pass from Mitch Wahl for the 3:2. Now the Tyroleans were back in the game. Tyler Spurgeon and Co. made much pressure now, but Yogan, Lammers and Guimond missed the best chances in the final minutes of the game in two Powerplays and so the Caps took three points from Innsbruck.

Red Bulls with clean sheet against Klagenfurt
EC Red Bull Salzburg took the lead at Klagenfurt already in minute 4 in a Powerplay: Thomas Raffl deflected the puck after a shot from Rob Schremp. Klagenfurt answered with strong moments, but the Carinthians did not produce real scoring chances. Finally in minute 16 Johannes Bischofbeger equalized with a wrist shot. Before the Mozart Citizens missed a Powerplay. But the guests had a quick answer, only 14 seconds later Alexander Cijan made the 2:1. After the re-start the Red Jackets quickly turned the game around with goals from Martin Schumnig and Mitja Robar – 3:2. The game was even played now. In minute 37 the Mozart Citizens took advantage from a Powerplay and so the game went into Overtime, because in the next 22 minutes good chances from Peter Mueller (alone infront of the net) and Michael Schiechl or on the other side from Manuel Geier (counter) and Rheault (rebound) stayed unused. In the Overtime Peter Mueller decided the game at Klagenfurt for the Red Bulls.

Villach celebrated first win under the lead of Markus Peintner
The Dornbirn Bulldogs started with much confidence into their home-game against EC VSV. It took the „Vorarlberger“ just 90 seconds to take the lead: Brodie Reid scored from a rebound. The hosts continued to make pressure, but Reid or Kevin Macierzynski missed good chances for a higher lead. This was punished by EC VSV: Jordan Hickmott (8.) with a blueliner and Ryan Glenn (14.) turned the game. Period 2 was even played. VSV goalie Lukas Herzog had good saves, he stopped inter alia Macierzynski or Pance from scoring after solo-attacks. On the other side Patrick Platzer deflected a shot from Stebih and Villach had a 3:1-lead at Dornbirn. The last period started perfect for DEC, already in minute 41 Matt Fraser scored from the slot - 2:3. The Bulldogs continued to make pressure, but the next goal was scored by Villach: Markus Schlacher was successful with a big shot (48.). In the last minutes Herzog allowed just one more goal and so EC VSV took three points from Dornbirn and celebrated the first win under the lead of Headcoach Markus Peintner.

Black Wings celebrated Shoot Out win
EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz had a perfect start, already in minute 2 Corey Locke finished a diagonal-pass from Bian Lebler after a counter. The hosts continued to make pressure and quickly added the 2:0: Rick Schofield was successful with a wristshot (12.). The Austrians were the chief on the ice, but Medvescak found a way to score the next goal: Tomas Netik arrived with speed in the offensive zone, the forward took the shot, the puck was deflected infront of goalie Mike Ouzas and the score was 1:2. Now the Bears found better into the game, a shot from Samson Mahbod hit the post. The equalizer followed in minute 32: Tyler Morley scored from a rebound under the crossbar. Two minutes later the Croatians even took the lead. Tomas Netik was free and had no problems to make the 3:2. In the third period there were some penalties on both sides. Now the Black Wings made more pressure again and they threatened especially in Powerplay. In one Powerplay Andreas Kristler made the 3:3 from a sharp angel. So the game went into an Overtime, in which both teams could not score from their chances. A Shoot Out had to decide the game; Locke and Piche scored for Linz, while Netik and Mahbod missed for Medvescak.
