Samstag, 21.Oktober 2017 - 8:00 - Fehervar AV19, EC-KAC, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Leader Vienna Capitals celebrated close wins in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga on Friday.

Red Bulls returned on the winning path
EC Red Bull Salzburg started strong into their home-game against EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz, just five minutes into the game Alexander Pallestrang scored the lead for the Mozart Citizens. The Red Bulls continued to make pressure, but Mike Ouzas keeped his team in the match with some good saves. The best chance for the Black Wings had Stefan Freunschlag. The forward skated around the net, but could not beat Salzburg’s goalie Bernhard Starkbaum. Period 2 started perfect for the hosts, already after a few seconds Raymond extended the lead. The Upper Austrians were shocked, but after some minutes they suddenly got stronger and stronger. After chances from Lebler, Piche, DaSilva, Broda, who hit the post, Dan DaSilva scored the 1:2 from a rebound (36.). The guests continued to make pressure, but stayed unlucky: Piche missed a good chance and Robert Lukas hit the post. In minute 43 Ryan Duncan made it 3:1 for Salzburg with a shot from the distance. The Black Wings fought back and finally were rewarded with their second goal from Brian Lebler. In the final minute the Mozart Citizens decided the game with an empty net goal from Harris for the final 4:2. So the Red Bulls returned after four defeats on the winning street, while Linz stayed without points for the first time after three wins in a row.

Next three points for Vienna
Bozen surprised at Vienna with fast and compact hockey. In minute 5 Michael Angelidis came close to score the lead for the Italians in a Power Play, but he hit the post. The teams acted in an aggressive manier, there was also a big fight between Patrick Peter and Daniel Frank. In the final minutes of period 1 Vienna made more pressure, but HCB-goalie Marcel Melichercik stopped all shots. Also in period two Bozen started better, but the first chance had Vienna: In a shorthanded situation Niki Hartl had a solo-chance, but he was stopped by Melichercik (24.). Moments later Bozen took the lead in a Power Play: Dominic Monardo scored the first goal under the crossbar after a perfect diagonal-pass from Christopher Desousa (26.). The Champion had a quick answer: 100 seconds later Ryan McKiernen made it 1:1 with a shot from the blue line in another Power Play. Then a mistakte in the Capitals-defense was punished by Angelidis with the 2:1. In the final minutes of period 2 Vienna made more pressure again. Finally Rafael Rotter made it 2:2 from a short distance (38.). The decision followed in minute 46: Jamie Fraser picked up the puck in the neutral zone, skated to the blue line and scored. HCB Südtirol Alperia tried to equalize in the final minutes, but goalie Pekka Tuokkola was not to beat anymore. The Caps lead with the maximum of 36 points from 12 games.

Fehervar AV19 ends bad road-run at Znojmo
HC Orli Znojmo eventually made their possession count by taking the lead on 14:33: Jan Lattner was allowed to skate from his own zone before slotting home top shelf as Fehervar's defence went awol. With 28 seconds left on the period a Fehervar counter-attack saw them go 2-on-1, Csanad Erdely's pass was perfect for Oliver Latendresse to fire home and tie the game. The middle period followed a similar patter, with Fehervar again not getting much going on on Power Play and Znojmo creating the better chances. Again the home side took the lead, this time Erik Nemec was given too much space to throw a shot at the net, which beat MacMillan through traffic. Fehervar finally got their special teams going as Orli took two penalties in quick succession - eventually David Gilbert poked the puck home from close range timed at 38:19. Despite starting the day on last place, Fehervar had the better chances in the third period but couldn't find the killer touch. As the clock ticked down and the tiredness set in for both teams, the game became open but no goals were scored. Into Overtime, and a cautious approach from both teams was eventually broke the way of Fehervar - David Gilbert skating from his own zone to calmly fire into the net to the delight of the 100 Hungarian fans behind the goal and win the game for Fehervar 3-2 in OT.

Klagenfurt took revenge Johannes Bischofberger was the matchwinner for EC-KAC against the Dornbirn Bulldogs. In minute twelve Thomas Koch scored the lead for EC-KAC after a pass from Bischofberger. And just three minutes later Marco Brucker finished an attack after a pass from Bischofberger in a shorthanded situation for the 2:0. Klagenfurt had chances for a higher lead, but DEC-goalie Ronan Quemener stopped the other 15 shots from the Red Jackets. In period 2 Klagenfurt missed a Power Play-chance to extend the lead. At halftime Dornbirn came back: Olivier Magnan got a rebound, skated around the net and scored. Klagenfurt had a quick answer: Bischofberger finished an attack after a pass from Thomas Hundertpfund for the 3:1. Early in period 3 Dornbirn could not take advantage from a Power Play and also afterwards the guests could not find back into the game anymore.
