Mittwoch, 11.Oktober 2017 - 5:43 - In Tuesday’s only Erste Bank Eishockey Liga game KHL Medvescak celebrated a 5:2 come-from-behind victory over EC VSV. After a great fight Vienna Capitals lost the deciding Champions Hockey League game for promotion against Swiss side EV Zug, 3:1. In addition, HC TWK Innsbruck announced the signing of Danish forward Morten Poulsen.

After some initial testing, feeling the rhythm it looked like it’ll be a slow night. However, hockey as a tendency to get interesting with one turnover. With 15th minute being played Medvescak lost the puck to Petrik in their zone, he found a speeding player – Platzer near the red line. Platzer easily outskated ?epon and scored an easy goal against MacIntyre. A goal that shocked Medvescak, Platzer’s second of the season. Just a few minutes later Zanoški slipped on the ice and tripped, again Platzer, to give Villach a man advantage until the end of the period. It took Villach 90 seconds to score on poweplay, the clock was 19:48 and the seconds were passing until the final whistle. Verli? shot a wrister from the blue line and it was up to Kyle Beach to score from the hustle near Medveš?ak’s crease. MacIntyre defended the goal twice, but Beach managed to score nonetheless. The fans had to wait nearly 28 minutes for the next goal. The second period was a hard played time, both teams stood firm, goalies proved their worth. Cameron decided to mix up the lines in the second period and tried to get some blood going for Medvescak. The period started with two penalties against Villach where Medvescak couldn’t convert, instead they look uninspired and uncoordinated. Everyone thought the game was over, Lukas Herzog was ready to write another shutout when Aviani decided to have a game. Medvescak entered the Villach zone coordinated, moved in with the puck, Aviani skated in front of the net, Netik found him while standing on the top of the face off circle. It didn’t take much for Aviani to find the space and score a backhanded top shelf goal for the first goal of the game for Medvescak. With just under 7 minutes to go in the third, Netik and Koskiranta were playing with Villach defense, when Robert Flick had enough. Flick tripped Netik and it was time for Medvescak’s PowerPlay. Fourth powerplay and the first goal – Morely passed the puck from behind the goal to Privitera on the blue line, then to Olden on the faceoff circle and it was 2:2. The game was again on after Olden writed one over Herzog’s shoulder. Two fast goals for Medvescak and Villach crumbled. After the faceoff, the puck circled Herzog’s net, bounced from stick to stick until it found Herzog on the wrong leg. Aviani was at the dot, when he saw Herzog getting up and slid the puck under his legs for the game winner. With under minute left, Herzog was pulled for the sixth player Kromp and Beach had a misunderstanding in the neutral and Aviani stole the puck, passed to racing Olden, then to Koskiranta who couldn’t do much but to score in an empty net. 4:2 Medvescak. Seconds later, Villach went to offensive with six players on the ice. Herzog was left behind, but one again Medvescak defended and Aviani raced, shot just after the red line and scored for the hat trick and game.

Caps eliminated from Champions Hockey League
After a great fight Vienna Capitals lost the deciding Champions Hockey League game for promotion against Swiss side EV Zug, 3:1. After a goalless opening period, Rafael Rotter broke the spell in the middle frame. The Viennese kept the lead until the 50th minute when Nolan Dien’s declection with his skate tied i tone one. It was a ‚good goal‘ call after video review. With four minutes to go Lino Martschini turned the game around with a two men advantage. With the Caps pulling goalie Pekka Tuokkola, who had his debut in the Vienna net, Carl Klingberg rounded off the scoring.
