Capitals still unbeaten, Linz regains second place

Montag, 02.Oktober 2017 - 5:29 - The Vienna Capitals are also after eight rounds still flawless. Against the EC VSV the acting Champ booked a 3:1 success after trailing. The LIWEST Black Wings Linz won with 3:2 against Fehervar AV19 and are the first runner up.

Caps booked win against VSV after strenuous effort
Right in the beginning the former Caps Keeper and now VSV-Goalie proofed his reactions. The Caps started with a couple of good chances. But it was Villach who captured the lead in the first period. Only 59 seconds before the end of the first period Dave Shields placed a shot, which was deflected by Verlic and found the way into the goal. In the second period the game played on an even level. The strong and tight defense of Villach was cracker by Ryan McKiernan in powerplay only one minute before the end of the period. The caps started with good energy into the last period. David Kickert shined with first saves. After a couple of minutes, the VSV was active again. But it was Vienna, who captured the lead. Jerry Pollastrone reacted quick and stoked the puck into the goal. Taylor Vause brought the final decision 21 seconds before the end with an empty-netter.

Black Wings captured first runner up position
The Black Wings started strong into the game and had good control in the first minutes. In the end of the first period Fehervar found a better rhythm. Both teams played a very solid defense but and didn’t receive goals. In the second period the hosts started with high energy and created good chances. Three minutes before the end of the period Brian Lebler scored the first goal of the night. Only one minute after that, Fehervar managed to tie the game. Daniel Szabo deflected a shot Jeff LoVecchio for the 1:1. The Black Wings still had the control in the final period and had more chances. In the final minutes of the game, both teams started to take make risk. In the 54th minute Kevin Moderer captured the lead. Only two minutes later Fabio Hofer brought the decision with his goal. Shortly before the end Fehervar managed to decread the leaf of Linz, but it was too late to tie the game again.

Salzburg with hard fought victory against Zagreb
The hosts started with high pressure and made it difficult for Zagreb to create chances. In the 10th minute the puck found the way from Florian Baltrams skate into the goal. But the answer from Zagreb came quick: 37 seconds later Sondre Olden scored the equalizer. This goal pushed the team of Zagreb, but this resulted in no more goals in this period. Both teams struggled with creating chances in the second period. Dominique Heinrich had to take a 5 minutes penalty, but Zagreb couldn’t capitalize from their long powerplay. The defense kept the rooms tight in the last period. In the 54th minute Alexander Rauchenwald converted the second rebound for the 2:1. Only minutes later Hughes brought the decision.

Graz captured three points in Dornbirn
Dornbirn started with more energy, but Graz captured the lead in the first period after a goal of Pirmann. The Bulldogs had the quick answer, Matt Fraser tied the game only one minute later. The 99ers were more efficient in the first 20 minutes and Justin Buzzero scored for 2:1. Only after 30 seconds in the second period Daniel Oberkofler increased the lead. Dornbirn had troubles to take control. Zintis Zusevics increased the lead still in the second period. The Bulldogs started with high energy and were able to decrease the lead. First it was Jerome Leduc who scored for the 2:4. In the final minutes Olivier Magnan created the result of 3:4 it was too late for the equalizer.

KAC booked home win against Innsbruck
The EC-KAC started with high pressure and created the first chances. But Innsbruck celebrated the first goal. Hunter Bishop scored after pass of John Lammers for the lead. But the answer of the KAC came quick. Thomas Hundertpfund converted a well-placed shot. Shortly before the end of the first period the KAC increased their energy. In the second period Innsbruck had good chances, but didn’t manage take the lead again, despite of some powerplay situations. The KAC was more efficient and scored in powerplay for the 3:1. The final period was opened by a goal of Innsbruck. The Sharks kept on pushing for the tie, but didn’t succeed.

Znojmo won in Bozen
The game in Bozen started with high speed and a good control of Bozen. Austin Smith took the lead for Bozen in the first period. And the foxes still put good pressure on their opponents. Viktor Schweitzer had the big opportunity to increase the lead with a penalty shot, but was stopped by Marek Schwarz. After five minutes in the second period Eric Nemec was able to tie the game after a breakaway. After that the foxes had some problems. Six minutes before the end Alex Petan reacted the quickest and recaptured the lead for Bozen. Stepan Csamango succeeded a bit later with the equalizer. In the final period Znojmo took control. After that Lattner captured the lead. Three minutes before the end Christopher DeSousa had a big chance fort he equalizer, but it was Znojmo who made the decision. Csamango scored for the result of 4:2.
