Mittwoch, 20.September 2017 - 5:28 - On Tuesday Moser Medical Graz99ers beat HC TWK Innsbruck who suffered their first season defeat. Two power play goals by Justin Buzzeo smoothed the way to a 5:3 home win. In addition EC-KAC won the 318th Carinthian debry, beating EC VSV 4:3 on the road.

Innsbruck got off a better start when Mike Wahl opened the scoring after only two minutes. Soon later Justin Buzzeo missed a good chance to euqalize but Graz took over command. After 16 minutes Kurtis McLean tied it at one with a power play marker and even before the first intermission Florian Iberer turned the game around. In a fast-paced middle frame Graz pressed for a third goal and Buzzeo made it with a two men advantage. In the third Buzzeo added another pp goal for the preliminary decision. After Teschauner pulling one back, Rupert Strohmeier made it 5:2 with an empty netter. However, Innsbruck had the last say when Tyler Spurgeon scored for a 5:3 final score.

KAC wins Carinthian derby
Villach showed physical hockey right from the beginning but Klagenfurt was the stronger team. It took the visitors 16 minutes to make the breakthrough, though, when Marco Brucker scored on power play. The second period was a mere 174 seconds old and Klagenfurt had a 3:0 lead. First Johannes Bischofberger doubled the score and then Patrick Harand added a third. After a thrilling fight netweem Niki Petrik and Martin Schumnig, the hosts woke up again. Miha Verlic and Stefan Bacher made it a one-goal game with power play goals again. Three minutes before the second intermission Bischofberger went top shelf for another two-goal lead. In the third VSV goalie David Kickert was replaced by Stefan Herzog who kept a clean sheet for the remainder of the game. In a final push Jordan Hickmott pulled one back but it was not enough this evening.
