Capitals shut out Red Bull Salzburg

Freitag, 15.September 2017 - 5:50 - Leader and Champion Vienna Capitals celebrated a clear 4:0-win at bottom-club EC Red Bull Salzburg. Goalie JP Lamoureux celebrated a Shut-out.

EC Red Bull Salzburg had more often the puck, but could not take advantage from their chances. The Capitals on the other side waited for their chances. Finally in minute 7 Jamie Fraser scored the lead for the Champion in a Power Play. The Red Bulls then also got a Power Play, but could not produce real scoring chances. When the Leader was complete again, the guests from Vienna extended their lead: Patrick Peter returned from the Penalty Box, he quickly got the puck and finished his solo for the 2:0. Also after the re-start Vienna was the chief on the ice. When Salzburg played in Power Play, it was Vienna‘s Kyle Klubertanz, who had the best chance. In minute 28 Vienna extended their lead in another Power Play after just four seconds – 3:0. Now Salzburg's goalie Luka Gracnar was replaced by Bernhard Starkbaum. John Hughes missed then an open net, while on the other side MacGregor Sharp made the 4:0 for Vienna in minute 40 in another Power Play. This was also the final score. JP Lamoureux stopped Julien Brouillette from scoring with a big save in minute 41 and finally celebrated a Shut-out. While Vienna celebrated their third win in their third game, Salzburg is still without points on the bottom.
