Derby Saturday in the Alps Hockey League

Samstag, 16.Dezember 2017 - 7:05 - On Saturday there are lots of derbies and matches between great rivals. In total seven teams, who are on a playoff spot at the moment, will hit the ice while Zell am See and Kitzbühel try to keep in touch with the top eight.

16.12.2017, 17:30: HK SZ Olimpija - HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice
Referees: KUMMER, PODLESNIK, Bizalj, Rezek
The emotional derby of Olimpija against Jesenice is opening the derby weekend of Alps Hockey League. The hosts had to take two defeats recently and dropped to the sixths place. Jesenice celebrated wins the first two battles this season. After winning with 6:4 at home, they scored three powerplay goals in the road game and won with 3:2. The best Slovenian team got defeated by Ritten recently, but they still have an advance of nine points to the 9th place and absolved two games less.

16.12.2017, 19:30: EK Zeller Eisbären - EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel
Referees: RUETZ, VIRTA, Bedana, Cristeli
Zell am See and Kitzbühel are not only „neighbors” on the map, they are also neighbors in standings. Kitzbühel is trailing by four points and currently on the 12th place. In 21 absolved rounds Kitzbühel booked eight wins. One of the wins was the first home game against Zell. Henrik Eriksson contributed one goal to the 5:2 success. Eriksson is the fifths best scorer of the AHL and already motivated for the coming game. For Zell Gregor Koblar is missing because of his suspension.

16.12.2017, 20:00: Rittner Buam - HC Fassa Falcons
Referees: KAMSEK, WALLNER, Miklic, Rinker
After a break of one week the acting champ is coming back with a duel against Fassa. The “Buam” celebrated a clear 5:0 success against Sterzing recently, whereas Fassa got defeated in twelve of the past 13 games. Ritten has currently an advantage of five points to the first runner up, Fassa is currently ranked on the 16th place. Ritten won the first two duels of the season and didn’t lose a single home game so far. Only the EC Bregenzerwald and Jeseince scored more than one goal at Ritten. The availability of Philipp Pechlaner and Kevin Fink (U20 national team) is doubtful also Hanno Tauferer may miss the game for the Buam. On the others Devin Di Diomete is suspended for the game.

16.12.2017, 20:30: S.G. Cortina Hafro - HC Pustertal Wölfe
Referees: HOLZER, MOSCHEN, Kalb, Piras
The HC Pustertal won eight out the past nine games and keeps growing the standings. Cortina is back on the winning streak after four consecutive defeats and celebrated two clear wins recently. With these results they currently are on one of the playoff spots, but the chasing pack is already close behind. Cortina decided thw first duel of the season with 5:2. Now they aim to confirm this win also in front of their home crowd to make another step to the playoff qualification.

16.12.2017, 20:30: Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan
Referees: LEGA, MISCHIATTI, Basso, Terragni
Asiago won six out of their past seven game and captured the second place in standings. The WSV Sterzing Broncos are currently in a loss of form and lost five out of their past six games. But Sterzing is still ranked on one of the playoff spots. In the first two battles of the season the away teams celebrated successes Asiago didn’t lose a home game in the past month and aimst to keep the connection to leader of Ritten with another win. Sterzing aims to capture points after three consecutive losses, to stay in the top-8.

16.12.2017, 20:30: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - HC Neumarkt Riwega
Referees: MORI , PIANEZZE, F. Giacomozzi, Rigoni
Two teams of the lower third are facing each other. Die playoff spots seem to be currently not in range for both teams, but still they aim to improve their standings. Especially Gherdeina climbed the standings in the last weeks and booked a four games winning streak and are trying to fight back into the hot zone of the standings. Neumarkt had to take defeats, after they celebrated a close win against Lustenau. Neumarkt was the first team who lost against the KAC II one week ago.
