Big wins for Slovenian AHL teams

Donnerstag, 23.November 2017 - 6:06 - In the 19th round of Alps Hockey League the two Slovenian Teams celebrate big wins and confirm their top-4 positions. The two Austrian Teams Kitzbühel and Lustenau narrowed the gap to the midfield. The Rittner Buam are still the measure of all things and booked another win. Neumarkt booked the big surprise of the round and won against Cortina in overtime.

HK SZ Olimpija - HC Pustertal Wölfe 2:0 (1:0, 0:0, 1:0)
Three weeks after last game AHL returned to Tivoli Hall with HC Pustertal returning the visit to HK SZ Olimpija. Wolves were looking for a payback for a shootout home defeat. But it was not to be as the dragons got the better of them second time around. Once more both teams provided fans with a close and interesting game. Thomas Tragust made some nice saves before Andrej Hebar got the better of him with just over ten minutes played. In the end that proved to be a game winning moment. Both goalies were perfect for the remainder of the game saving everything coming their way. Trailing by one Thomas Tragust left the ice in favor of an extra attacker. Wolves tried but there was no way past Robert Kristan who recorded his fifth season shutout returning from an injury. With 68 seconds left on the clock Miha Pesjak assisted to Crt Snoj who than put the puck into open net for a final score 2:0.

EC KAC II - HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 1:11 (0:3, 0:4, 1:4)
The HDD Jesenice started very quick and with high pressure. In the second minute Miha Logar scored the first goal of the night. Only 27 seconds after that Gasper Glavic doubled the lead. In the 15th minute a successful rebound brought the 3:0. The second period was only four minutes old, when Jesenice scored again: First Luka Basic increased the lead, after that Tadej Dimzar followed for the 5:0. A well executed penalty shot of David Planko brought already the next goal. Jesenice even scored one more goal in the second period: Luka Kalan won the duel against Jakob Holzer. In the final period Florian Vorauer got his chance in the goal of the red jackets. But also his start wasn’t successful. After only nine seconds Luka Basic scored his next goal and Jaka Sturm scored a few moments the 9th goal. But this was still not enough for the Sloveneans: Zan Jezovsek and Miha Brus further increased the lead to 11:0. A few minutes before the end Klagenfurt scored the consolation goal. Fabian Hochegger shot from the slot and Niki Kraus converted the rebound. The game ended with the 11:1 highest win of the season for Jesenice.

EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan 6:2 (0:2, 3:0, 3:0)
Sterzing started strong into the game. After only five minutes Matthias Mantinger scored the first goal of the night. The Broncos kept on putting pressure on Kitzbühel. Three minutes later Ben Duffy doubled the lead. Both teams ha some more good chances in the first period, but no more goals were scored. The hosts started with a lot of pressure into the second period. After only two minutes Gatis Sprukts narrowed to gap with his goal. Lukas Bär managed to tie the game in the 38th minute and David Lidström even captured the lead for his team still in the second period. Kitzbühel was on fire now, Sprukts opened the final period with another goal and Lidström and Eriksson created the result of 6:2.

Rittner Buam - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 4:0 (0:0; 3:0; 1:0)
Hannes Treibenreif was Renon's goalkeeper for this challenge. Alex Frei, Andreas Alber and Max Ploner was not present. Florian Moroder was absent for the visitors.The first period was very balanced: Treibenreif stopped 11 conclusions of Gardena, while Giancarlo Kostner neutralized 12 shots of the home team The first gola of the match came around in the middle when Renon played in 2-men advantage for the current penalties of Patrick Nocker and Ivan Demetz. Simon Kostner took only 15 seconds to score the first advantage for the Buam. After two minutes, Ritten doubled with Kevin Fink's net. The young forward played in this in the third line instead of Alex Frei. The home team continued to play with more energy and before the end of the period, Andreas Lutz scored 3:0. The leader of AHL controlled the opponents in the third time. Dan Tudin fixed the final result (4:0). Treibenreif earned the first seasonal shutout.

HC Fassa Falcons - EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 0:4 (0:1; 0:2; 0:1)
The game began with a slow pace and during the first six minutes it didn’t happen much. The Lustenau made the first goal of the match thanks to a blue shot by Jason De Santis. After this fact, the match changed face and the two teams produced many dangerous actions in front of the opposing net but the result didn’t change. Austrian team earned the game during the second perioda s they played more determined in the goal area. The Lustenau doubled during the first powerplay of the match at the end of a great action for Philip Putnik's goal (24.). After two minutes, Lustenau made another net with a diagonal shot by Stefan Hrdina. The Fassa attempted to reopen the game but without success. During the third time Dominik Oberscheider finished the game with the fourth Austrian goal. In the last 10 minutes of the third time nothing happened again. The Lustenau won for 4: 0. Finnish goalkeeper Mikko Ramo has earned his second seasonal shutout. After this match the “Lions” earned the 12th position in the standings.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - EC Bregenzerwald 4:1 (2:0; 2:1; 0:0)
The start of the game didn’t gave much emotion. The two teams thought more about defending than attacking. Minutes later, however, Asiago grew in the play. The home team, after defending in a double inferiority, scored with Michele Stevan, who exceeded Pietila from close range after a precise assist of Josè Magnabosco (14.). Four minutes later Anthony Nigro built the doubling for yellow-read team after a rebound. Between the end of fist time and start of second time Asiago failed to score in double powerplay. The goal came the same, shortly afterward, always in powerplay: Anthony Nigro scored in a wide open net after a nice action (24). Around halfway the home team scored 4: 0 with Francesco Forte. The young defensman , coming out of the penalty bench, managed to overtake Pietila with a puck under his legs. Julian Zwerger, after two minutes, made the first and only goal of the Austrians. In the third time Asiago built so much but they collected no goal. Tom Barrasso team’s won for 4: 1 as they returned to third place in the standings.

S.G. Cortina Hafro - HC Egna Riwega 2:3 OT (1:0; 1:1; 0:1; 0:1)
The start of the game was slow: two teams played slightly contracted. Neumarkt did a few occasions but nothing to worry about the goalie Marco De Fiilippo. Minutes after the minute the home team grow in the game. After a great chance for Neil Manning, the Cortina made the first goal with Zachary Torquato. In the second period, the game became more fought and more attractive. Cortina built many chance but they didn’t scored. After four minutes in the middle, the game had an acceleration. First it was the goal of the draw for Joseph Harcharik but Cortina found a new advantage 57 seconds later with Francesco De Biasio (2:1). Then in the second part of the time Cortina didn’t score despite the occasions while the visitors also relied on the saves of Daniel Morandell. In the third time, Wild Geese didnt’ give up. Cortina continued in his non-productive game in goal area. Michael Sullmann scored the tie (2:2) after 54 minutes. Then there was a mistake in the Cortina attack after few seconds during the overtime. Jakub Muzik scored the decisive goal after a breakaway as Neumarkt won 3:2. Neumarkt also won in the overtime the first match of the season against Cortina.
