Alps Hockey League re-starts after break

Mittwoch, 15.November 2017 - 5:37 - Alps Hockey League continues on Tuesday after the International Break with two games. On Wednesday follow four more matches. During the break several clubs boosted their roster, HC Pustertal Wölfe has a new Head Coach.

Tue, 14.11.2017: FBI VEU Feldkirch – EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel (19:30)
Referees: GAMPER, WALLNER, Martin, Rinker.

Both clubs were in action during the International Break and stayed in game rhythm. Reason to celebrate had only FBI VEU Feldkirch: The Vorarlberger were on Fire in their home-game against EK Zeller Eisbären on Saturday and won thanks goals from eight different players 8:1. For the best Austrian club in Alps Hockey League – Feldkirch is ranked on place 5 behind Leader Rittner Buam (ITA), HK SZ Olimpija (SLO), HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice (SLO) and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 (ITA) – it meaned the third win in their third match in November. EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel on the other side was defeated twice lately. Now the Eagles are required twice in a row on the road at Feldkirch (Tue) and at Neumarkt (Sa). There the Tyroleans will fight against their bad run on the road. Kitzbühel lost so far all six road-games in Alps Hockey League this season and scored just ten goals.

Tue, 14.11.2017: HC Pustertal Wölfe – Rittner Buam (Bruneck, 20:00)
Referees: BENVEGNU, PIANEZZE, Cristeli, Wiest.

Both teams will start with new faces in their first game after the International Break on Tuesday: HC Pustertal Wölfe has with Fin Petri Mattila a new Head Coach and with Nate DiCasmirro a new, but already best known Forward. The Italo-American played already from 2010 until 2012 in Bruneck und spend last season at Jesenice. For the Slovenes the 39 years old Forward made 2016/17 31 points from 37 games. Besides he became Slovenian Champion with the „Red Steelers“. Rittner Buam signed strong defenseman Bratton Stamler and strong US-Forward Kyle Jean, who have both spend at least one year in Europe.
Before the International Break the Rittner Buam dominated in Alps Hockey League. The Champion leads the ranking with 39 points (14 wins) from 15 games clearly. The Leader also scored so far the higest number of goals (69) and received the fewest number of goals (28). Lately the Rittner Buam celebrated nine wins in a row. But take attention: HC Pustertal Wolves managed the turn-around before the International Break and was successful so far in both games in November. Not only that, the wolves even scored eleven goals in 120 minutes and received just one goal! Besides games between this two clubs at Bruneck were always close lately.

Wed, 15.11.2017: HC Neumarkt Riwega – HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice (20:00)
Referees: FAJDIGA, LAZZERI, DeZordo, Miklic.

HC Neumarkt Riwega (ITA) vs. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice (SLO) is the only International clash during this week. For the Italians the last seven games before the break were an up and down, win and defeat always rotated. Lately the wild-geese lost at Bruneck with 0:4. If this series continues the Italians must surprise on Wednesday at home vs. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice with a win. The Slovenes also had an up and down in Alps Hockey League in their last four games. During the break Jesenice was in action in the Slovenian League at Maribor and celebrated a clear 9:0-victory. Neumarkt and Jesenice faced so far twice, both games last season won the Slovenes.

Wed, 15.11.2017: Migross Supermercato Asiago Hockey 1935 – WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan (20:30)
Referees: KUCHER, SUPPER, P. GIACOMOZZI, F. GIACOMOZZI.

With Migross Supermercato Asiago Hockey 1935 and WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan two teams, that play strong defense will face on Wednesday at Asiago: The Vice-Champion received so far just 33 goals from 14 games, the Broncos only 28, which is top, from 14 games as well. Sterzing had a good run before the break and collected points in their last five games (three wins). The „Yellow-Reds“ from Asiago on the other side had an up and down in their last four games, win and defeat always rotated. Lately Asiago lost at home vs. HK SZ Olimpija. In the last five clashes between this two Italian clubs the home-team left the ice as the winner.

Wed, 15.11.2017: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it – HC Fassa Falcons (20:30)
Referees: MORI, MOSCHEN, Egger, Piras.

With much, new offensiv-power HC Gherdeina valgardena.it welcomes HC Fassa Falcons on Wednesday. Gherdeina signed during the International Break Colin Long (USA) and Linus Lundström (SWE), who convinced already last year in Alps Hockey League: Long reached with Asiago the finals, he scored 53 points (13G/40A) and Lundström made 54 points (28G/26A) from 41 games for HC Neumarkt Riwega! The two forwards should bring the success back to Gherdeina. So far the Italians celebrated only three wins from 15 games and scored just 29 goals. Jan McDonald leaves the club. In this month the Furies lost so far both games. On Wednesday arrives with HC Fassa Falcons a neighbour in the standing at Gherdeina. Fassa is on place 14, the Furies on place 15. The Falcons also had problems to score so far, they made just 28 goals from 14 games. At Gherdeina the Falcons will try to end their bad run from five defeats in a row.
The last three meetings between this two Italian clubs were won by HC Gherdeina valgardena.it.

Wed, 15.11.2017: EC Bregenzerwald – EK Zeller Eisbären (Dornbirn, 19:30)
Referees: VIRTA, WIDMANN, Bedynek, Wiest.

After defeats EC Bregenzerwald and EK Zeller Eisbären try to return on the winning-street on Wednesday at Dornbirn. Both teams lost lately twice. „The Wälder“ return after two road-games back home. In front of their fans the Vorarlberger showed another face lately, at home they won their last three games.
While the ECB-players had a ten days break, the Polar Bears were in action on Saturday. EK Zeller Eisbären lost at Feldkirch clearly 1:8. The club reacted suddenly, signed Slovenian Forward Gregor Koblar and got back to Pinzgau Czech Forward Jan Kolar, who scored last season 42 points (11G/31A) from 33 games for EKZ. Besides the fins Jussi Tapio and Tommi Laine had to leave the club. At EC Bregenzerwald the Pinzgauer try to end their bad road-run on Wednesday. EK Zeller Eisbären lost their last four road-games with a score from 6:21. But take attention: EKZ won the last three meetings with ECB, inter alia the first season-clash end of September 6:3.
