Lots of extra-shifts in the AHL on Wednesday

Donnerstag, 26.Oktober 2017 - 7:20 - Exciting Wednesday round in Alps Hockey League. In three out of six games no decisions were found in regular time. The KAC captured its first points of the season by heading into overtime. Also Ritten decided the game against Cortina in overtime. The Broncos even needed a shoout out to win against Pustertal. Jesenice also won the second Slovenian Derby.

HK SZ Olimpija - HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 2:3 (0:1, 0:2, 2:0)
2nd big Slovenian derby of the season again counted double for Olimpija and Jesenice. Just like first time around steelers managed to collect three points for both the AHL and Slovenian championship. Visitors in white quickly took advantage of two early fouls. In just seven seconds Miha Brus scored on a double power play. Thanks to too many fouls by Olimpija Jesenice dominated first period but they failed to increase the lead. After the break the dragons took over. Miha Pesjak came the closest to tying the game but his backender went too high. The momentum went out the door when Luka Zorko picked up a double minor penalty. First in was Tadej Cimzar who put the puck past Robert Kristan with his skate. 15 seconds later Nejc Stojan made it 0:3. Olimpija finally managed to get on the scoreboard 10 seconds into final period. After winning the puck behind the net Miha Zajc found Matic Kralj who made an easy job in front of Clarke Sounders. Half way into the period Luka Kalan had Robert Kristan beatten but got denied by the post. In 54th minute Crt Snoj made it a one goal game with a well placed shot from the left slot. Andrej Brodnik pulled Robert Kristan with 2:05 left on the clock. Still despite heavy pressure Olimpija couldn’t get a perfect shot on target. Jesenice came closer to their forth goal of the game. In dying seconds Luka Basic hit the post of an empty Olimpija net.

HC Pustertal Wölfe - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan 1:2 SO (1:1; 0:0; 0:0; 0:0; 0:1)
The South Tyrolean derby met the expectations of the eve: the game was immediately fought and fast since the first faceoff. In the first few minutes of play the pressure of the Wolves was much but then after seven minutes the Sterzing took the first advantage. A double mistake of Bruneck's defense allowed Danny Deanesi to make the first net in favor of the Broncos. The home team reacted and then scored with a shot from the medium distance of Eric Pance. During the second half the Wolves attacked a lot but they didn’t collect anything. Vipiteno answered with fast actions. The Val Pusteria also hit a pole but at the end of the second period the result was always equal (1: 1). In the third part, the Val Pusteria always controlled the game but didn’t find a final touch. When missing three seconds from the end of the period, Zdnek Bahensky missed a goal for a while. Also in extra time, the goalkeepers keept the net clean. In the penalty Vipiteno won thanks to the decisive point of Luca Felicetti. Now the Broncos are fifth in the standings.

EC KAC II - HC Neumarkt Riwega 3:4 OT (1:0, 2:3, 0:0, 0:1)
The young red jackets started with high energy. In the third minute the keeper of Neumarkt made a mistake and Michael Rainer scored his own rebound. Neumarkt had their first big chances in their first powerplay. Tbe best opportunites at the end of the period had the KAC again. Also the start into the second period was controlled by the red jackets. In the 23rd minute defender Martin Gortischnig scored from the blue line. This time Neumarkt had the right answer. A shot of Andrea Maino found the way into the goal after double deflection. Only 53 seconds later Kami Brabenec scored the tie. In the 36th minute Philipp Wilhelmer recaptured the lead. The last goal of the second period were scored by the guests again. Kamil Brabenec equalized the game for the second time this evening. In the third period both teams didn’t take too much risk. So the game went into overtime, where both teams had good chances again. When already everybody thought about the penalty shoot out, Kamil Brabenec brought the decision only three seconds before the end. It was his third goal of the night. But still the KAC captured the first point of this season.

HC Fassa Falcons - EC Bregenzerwald 2:5 (1:2; 1:1; 0:2)
Good start of the Falcons that played very fast as they took advantage during first powerplay of the game. Samuel Rothstein was the author of the goal (7). The reaction of the Austrians was almost immediate. After a minute there was the draw with Simeon Schwinger while after 14 minutes the Bregenzerwald turned the game with Mark Kompain. The first time ended with the well-deserved advantage of the ECB. In the second half, the visitors scored in powerplay a new goal with Maximilian Hohenegg after 13 seconds from penalty of Soel Coastantin (21.). In the middle the Fassa returned in to the game with the goal of Martin Castlunger. The Falcons in the last 10 minutes of the middle played with great intensity as they produced so many opportunities but the ECB team protected its net with the good saves of Misa Pietila. In the third period, the austrian team rejected the assaults of Fassa. Then, after 50 minutes, Marcel Wolf's net was just a sentence. In the last seconds of the game, Christian Haidinger fixed the result 5:2 for Bregenzerwald, which was the first Austrian team to win on the ice of Fassa in the season after the defeats of VEU, KEC and EKZ.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 3:2 (1:1; 1:1; 1:0)
The first period is controlled by the home team who played better and produced a lot but didn’t score. The Gherdeina, on the other hand, made the first goal with Gabriel Senoner during the first powerplay in favor. Asiago's answer was fast. Phil Pietroniro hita a pole. Then Alex Gellert with a great shot tie the result for the first half. In the second period there were a lot of penalties on the Asiago account. Asiago made the first advantage of the evening with Federico Benetti who put the puck under the leg of Giancarlo Kostner. But Gherdeina remained in the game as they tied after of a six-minute penalty against Davide Dal Sasso. Once again Fury's powerplay was decisive with Gabriel Vinatzer's goal. The second time ended 2:2. During the began of third time Marco Rosa scored the new advantage after an attempt of Marco Magnabosco in the front of Kostner’s net. The match then stayed in balance and Asiago won for 3: 2: a bit surprising if we consider the distance between the two teams. Remember that Gherdeina's special teams have made two goals in powerplay in this game, twice as much they did in the previous 11 games.
