AHL sees second Slovenian Derby

Mittwoch, 25.Oktober 2017 - 5:27 - On Wednesday Alps Hockey League continues with six more games. It's again about the dominance in Slovenia when Jesenice travels to Ljubljana. While leader Ritten meets Cortina in a rematch of the semifnal series, the two bootom-placed teams Klagenfurt and Neumarkt face each other.

25.10.2017, 19:15: HK SZ Olimpija - HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice
Referees: BENVEGNU, DURCHNER, De Zordo, Legat

Olimpija was at the top of Alps Hockey League only for a short time. The team of head coach Andrej Brodnik lost two of their last three games, including the derby in Jesenice (4:6). Non Ljubljana plays their third match within five days with Jesenice comin gto Hala Tivoli this time. Second-placed steelers have won their last nine games with scoring at least four goals in their last five. Ljubljana has the best PK available (90,3%). After having a great atmosphere in the first season meeting, fans can look forward to this derby again.

25.10.2017, 19:30: EC KAC II - HC Neumarkt Riwega

It's a battle of the bottom-placed clubs KAC and Neumarkt. While the Carinthians have lost all twelve season games, the Wild Geese have four points on their account. Last week they gained their first season win against Bregenzerwald. In the AHL debut season these two clubs met four times with Neumarkt winning all. The games in Klagenfurt were hard-fought, though, and were decided by only one goal. KAC conceded most goals against of all teams (68), including 18 goal while palying shorthanded. They also received the most penalty minutes (183).

25.10.2017, 20:00: HC Pustertal Wölfe - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan

Last Saturday the upward trend of HC Pustertal was stopped against Bregenzerwald. Now the tenth-placed wolves host Sterzing, who are ranked sixth. The visitors have the best defense, with conceding only 18 goals against in ten matches, and also best power play available: the Broncos scored 19 goals on 55 pp occasions (34,5). However, Sterzing lost the last nine games in Brunico. The hosts will miss Obermair and Erlacher.

25.10.2017, 20:00: Rittner Buam - S.G. Cortina Hafro
Referees: LEGA, WALLNER, Ch. Cristeli, Rinker

Ritten leads Alps Hockey League with 29 points, earning ten win out of eleven games. The champions are undefeated at home and now they welcome Cortina in a rematch of last season's semifinal series. Last campaign the "Buam" won six out of seven games against Cortina who just decided the seminfals opener to their favour. Wile Ritten's forward Alex Frei has twelve goals, Riley Brace has also done well so far. The Canadian has earned 28 points (ten goals, 18 assists) and is the league's leading scorer. Zachary Torquato is suspended for Cortina, Ritten will be without injured Andreas Alber and Max Ploner.

25.10.2017, 20:00: HC Fassa Falcons - EC Bregenzerwald
Referees: LESNIAK, MOSCHEN, Markizeti, Stefenelli

After a bye-weekend, Fassa is in action again when the falcons host Bregenzerwald on Wednesday. The guests have surprised so far with gaining 19 points out of twelve games and ranking on eighth position. In their last six games win and loss have always alternated, a home win against Pustertal was the last result. Last campaign on average eight goals were scored in these meetings with the falcons winning three of four.

25.10.2017, 20:30: Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it
Referees: RUETZ, VIRTA, Egger, Tschrepitsch

With only two defeats in ten games Asiago ranks third at the moment. It looks differently for their upcoming opponent Gherdeina who lost three of their last four games and rank 15th. Especially the special teams give the fury a hard fight: with only one goal out of 53 pp occasions (1,9%) they have the worst power play by far and they also conceded three shorthanders. Gherdeina's PK is also at the last place. Last campaign Asiago won both season meetings with one game going to overtime, though.
