Feldkirch, Zell and Salzburg with AHL victories

Montag, 23.Oktober 2017 - 6:05 - On Sunday six Alps Hockey League teams hit the ice for the second time within 24 hours. Feldkirch caused a litte surprise with a 3:2 away win against Ljubljana. While Red Bull Hockey Juniors beat Klagenfurt on the road, Zell am See earned an overtime win against Lustenau.

EC KAC II - Red Bull Hockey Juniors 2:6 (1:1, 1:3, 0:2)
The game in Klagenfurt was a mere 43 seconds old when Philipp Wilhelmer put the home team in front. In the sixth minute Klagenfurt played power play for four minutes but the the bottom-placed team could not extend their lead. With 46 seconds to gon in the first Nico Felder tied the game at one. The Red Bulls became better in the middle frame and before the halfway point of the game Lahoda and Zimmermann scored a brace for a 3:1 Salzburg lead. It was Alexander Lahoda who added a fourth but Nikolaus Kraus pulled one back for Klagenfurt alter in the period. However, Salzburg came out ahrd in the third again and Nico Strodel restored the three-goal lead off a Östling pass. The visitors were not in troble anymore and earned a 6:2 road win with Samuel Witting rounding off the scoring. It was their third successive win while Klagenfurt still has not gained a point.

EK Zeller Eisbären - EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 2:1 FOT (0:0, 1:1, 0:0, 1:0)
The two traditional clubs met at eye level with both teams focusing on their defense. In a goalless first no side could gain the momentum. After the restart the hosts created some chances and finally they made the breakthrough on power play when Jussi Tapio found the back of the net. He beat former Zell am See goalie Lukas Schluderbacher for the first time this afternoon. After this goal Lustenau took over command and at the halfway point of the game Max Wilfan, brother of Zell am See captain Franz, tied it at one. In the third the game gained even more pace. With Jason DeSantis receiving a game suspension for a check from behind, the hosts failed to score on power play and the game went into overtime. In the extra session Petr Vala lit the lamp for a 2:1 home win.

HK SZ Olimpija - FBI VEU Feldkirch 2:3 (1:2, 0:1, 1:0)
Last game of the weekend saw HK Olimpija welcome VEU Feldkirch to Tivoli Hall. After a tough penalty shootout defeat last night at Jesenice Feldkirch started the game a bit groggy. Olimpija took full advantage as Miha Zajc scored an opening goal for the dragons. Feldkirch was quick to respond. with Dylan Stanley tying the score. At the end of first period Christoph Draschkowitz beat the buzzer to put Feldkirch ahead going into first intermission. Dylan Stanley netted his second goal of the game in 33rd minute to increase the lead. A 1:37 double power play soon came Feldkirchs way but Robert Kristan wouldn't let himself get beaten once more. Olimpija did their best to get back in the game in last 20 minutes. But the hosts only managed a single goal from a defender Kristjan Cepon. Playing last 80 seconds without a goalie also didn't bring Olimpija any success as Feldkirch held on to a one goal lead for their 5th win of the season.
