Jesenice beats Olimpija and climbs to the top again

Sonntag, 15.Oktober 2017 - 8:22 - In Saturday's seven Alps Hockey League games six teams won in front of their home crowd. In the top game Jesenice earned a 6:4 derby win against Ljubljana to return to the top of the standings. While Asiago climbed to third place with a runaway victory over bottom-placed club EC-KAC II, HC Pustertal got the only away win in Feldkirch.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - HK SZ Olimpija 6:4 (2:1, 1:2, 3:1)
The biggest slovenian hockey derby started better for Jesenice. After 12 minutes of play the score was 2:0 after two goals scored by Markus Piispanen. Olimpija managed to hit the crossbar three times. Matic Kralj scored a goal in the 13th minute. Olimpija played much better in the second period. They outscored Jesenice and managed to score two powerplay goals by Kralj and Maks Selan while Miha Brus lit the lamp once for Jesenice. The game was tied after the second period. Olimpija started the third period with a lot of opportunities. But Jesenice were much more efficient and managed to score three more goals by Kalan, Baši? and Brus. Two minutes before the end, Luka Ulamec puled one back for Olimpija but it was not enough to turn the game around once again.

EC Bregenzerwald - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 5:1 (1:1, 0:0, 4:0)
The game was a mere 87 seconds old when Daniel Ban opened the scoring off a Marcel Wolf pass. The visitors were not demoralized and tied it after six minutes by Simon Pitschieler. In the remained of the first Bregenzerwald generated some chances but failed to score. In a goalless second period both teams did lots of mistakes with the goalies Pietilä and Rabanser being in the limelight. Early in the third Daniel Ban restored the lead and now ECB dominated the game. With a power play goal Daniel Ban celebrated his hat trick and Gherdeina coach Patrice Lefebvre pulled his goalie three minutes before the final buzzer. Daniel Ban abandoned their hopes with his fourth goal of the night into the empty net. Dominic Haberl rounded off the scoring for a final 5:1 score.

EK Zeller Eisbären - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan 3:1 (0:0, 1:0, 2:1)
The fans in Zell am See saw a fast-paced game right from the beginning. Both teams built on a good defensive work with goalies Patrick Machreich and Gianluca Vallini keeping a clean sheet in the first period. After the restart the hosts took over command and became more dangerous. After the halfway point of the game Petr Vala only hit the post but just a few moments later Fabian Scholz opened the scoring. In the third Zell am See pressed for another goal but they even failed to score when Sterzing's Tobias Erlacher received a game misconduct for spearing. With 4 on 4 on the ice the visitors even tied the score after 54 minutes thanks to Jure Sotlar. However, just a minute later Scholz restored the lead with his second of the night. Jussi Tapio doubled the lead on power play to make the 3:1 home win safe.

FBI VEU Feldkirch - HC Pustertal Wölfe 2:4 (0:2, 2:0, 0:2)
Pustertal had the better of the play in the opening period but they created just a few good chances. After eight minutes Andergassen used one of them to break the spell. While Pustertal did well defensively and Feldkirch had no real scoring chance, Ringrose doubled the lead late in the period. Early in the middle frame Ringrose only hit the post and then Feldkirch came back. Reinthaler got his colours on the scoreboard and after 34 minutes Puschnik tied it with a solo attempt. In the third it was once again Rinsrose who had the first big chance. This time he scored to retake the lead. Andergassen made the preliminary decision on power play with his second of the night. In Feldkirch's final push HCP goalie Trgust had a big save and the wolves celebrated a 4:2 road win.

HC Fassa Falcons - HC Neumarkt Riwega 4:3 (0:2, 3:0, 1:1)
Andrè Vigl and Mattia Bernard was absent for home team. The first time was in favor of the Neumarkt that played with more conviction. The Fassa was without ideas and the hard work wasn’t much to set up the game. Michael Sullmann made the first goal for Neumarkt. Then there was the doubling with the new player, Jospeh Harcharik. During the second period Fassa changed the face of the match. The Falcons put a lot of pressure as Devin Di Diomete and Samuel Rothstein made the tie. Then there was the goal of overtaking always with Devin Di Diomete. During this time Bustreo was out for injury after hit. In the third time the game was very fought. Egna scored the 3th goal with Harcharik but Fassa had something more. The young player, Marco Marzolini, marked the winning goal as he fixed the final risult in favor of the Falcons (4:3).

S.G. Cortina Hafro - EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 5:3 (0:2, 3:0, 2:1)
The guests hit after just 22 seconds with De Santis's net. Then Lustenau kept the lead throughout the first half. When missing one minutes to end of the first perid, Wilfan doubled. In the second fraction came the big return of the hosts. The main character was Jordan Ciccarello who striked twice with Cortina reaching the tie. Both Cortina's goals were in powerplay. Then home tem hand went fast with the first advantage of Neil Manning. During the 3th time Cortina continued his game. The decisive moment was in the middle of the final period with two Edoardo Caletti's goal that allowed to manage the final minutes. The Lustenau found another goal with Putnik but the game was in the hands of the hosts who win for 5:3.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - EC KAC II 9:1 (4:0, 4:1, 1:0)
Asiago Hockey conquered the sixth consecutive win in a row as they took the 3th place. Now Asiago was a very short distance by Jesenice (3 points of distance) and two by Rittner Buam, both with one more game. In the first half the home team dominated for all 20 minutes. After just 20 seconds Rosa made the first goal. Then in order Scandella, Matteo Tessari and Bardaro allowed to take off the home team. In the second period Klagenfurt scored the only goal of the match with Kurath. But the yellow-red team answered quickly with another 4 goals in the period. Scandella scored 5:1 then after 32 minutes Asiago scored three goals in less than a minute. Between the seventh and the eighth goal taken, KAC II changed the goalkeeper: outside Florian Vorauer, in Jakob Holzer. In the third period there was another Bardaro’s net that fixed the final result 9: 1 for Asiago. Five goals of the hosts were in powerplay.
