AHL: Two home wins on Sunday

Montag, 02.Oktober 2017 - 5:32 - The home teams ended this Alps Hockey League weekend with wins. The HC Pustertal won a close game against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors with 2:1. The HK Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a 5:1 victory against EHC Alge Elastic Lusenau. It was the fifth consecutive win of the Slovenians, who took the second place in the standings.

HC Pustertal Wölfe - Red Bull Hockey Juniors 2:1
HC Pustertal, in front of 1000 spectators, returned to victory thanks to Armin Hofer's decisive goal in the third period against Red Bull Juniors. Bruneck confirmed Alexander Kinkelin as goalkeeper. Eric Pance, Max Oberrauch and Thomas Erlacher were absent. Eric Johansson was present but he played only during powerplay time. The Wolves began with a lot of intensity. After six minutes of play, there was the first goal of the match: Maximilian Leitner scored with a great shot from the blue line during a first powerplay for home team. Then also the guests started to be dangerous but before the end of period the hosts were near to score the 2th goal. During the second period the game was very poor of play. The formations were just to defending. Simon Berger missed a penalty shot for home team. Armin Hofer hit the crossbar but the period ended without goals. Austrian team put a lot of pressure and after 45 minutes tied with a great shot by Niklas Postel. But five minutes later, Pustertal returned to the lead with a spectacular goal by Armin Hofer who in shorthanded situation scored after a coast-to-coast until to the opposing net. In the final time there was a final assault of a good Salzburg but the game was won by Bruneck for 2:1.

HK Olimpija Ljubljana – EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 5:1
After yesterdays close defeat against Jesenice, Lustenau also lost again the second Slovenian team. The HK Olimpija Ljubljana booked a 5:1 success after a strong second period. In the first period the two teams scanned each other with a slight advantage for the hosts. But both teams didn’t manage to score. Other than in the second period. After the opening goal of Maks Selan, two goals of Andrej Hebar brought the 3:0 lead for the hosts. Jürgen Tschernutter managed to decrease the gap to two goals, but Crt Snoj reacted the three goals lead still in the second period. The final period had not too much action anymore. Three minutes before the end Selan create with his second goal the result of 5:1.
