AHL Champion Ritten climbs to the top

Donnerstag, 28.September 2017 - 5:23 - On Wednesday Jesenice and Rittner Buam extended their winning streaks with the champion, who has not dropped a single point so far, taking over at the top of the table. While Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated their first season win, Kitzbühel and Cortina earned victories, too.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors - HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 8:3 (4:2, 2:0, 2:1)
The game was a mere three and a half minutes when Gherdeina had a 2:0 lead thanks to goals by Jan McDonald and Andreas Vinatzer. Salzburg bounced back, though. First, Tobias Eder and Nico Östling missed good chances but then Östling halved the deficit. Soon later Victor Östling tied it with a power play goal. It even became better for the hosts when Eder and Samuel Witting turned the game around within 30 seconds for a 4:2 Red Bulls lead after 20 minutes. Eder used a 5 on 3 power play for another goal and late in the period, Eder celebrated his hat trick with another man advantage. The home team had no more problems in the third with Eder adding his fourth of the night. McDonald pulled one back after a defensive mistake from the hosts who had the final say when Witting rounded off the scoring, 8:3. It was the first Juniors win this season.

EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel - HC Neumarkt Riwega 4:0 (3:0, 0:0, 1:0)
After losing the first four games, Neumarkt came to Kitzbühel who also suffered two defeats lately. The Tirolese got off a better start and basically decided the game in the first five minutes. Henrik Hochfilzer made the breakthrough on power play after only two minutes. With Neumarkt receiving the next penalty, Henrik Eriksson (4.) doubled the score. After five and a hlaf minutes, Hochfilzer and Eriksson made the assists for Martin Gran who added a third. Neumarkt tried hard to come back but the could not beat KEC netminder Jose Kangaskorte. After a goalless second period, Gatis Sprukts made the final decision after 47 minutes. While Kitzbühel climbed up to ninth place with the 4:0 victory, Neumarkt is still second to last.

HC Pustertal Wölfe - HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 0:4 (0:3, 0:0, 0:1)
The first period was balanced in the game but non in the result. The real difference was the ability to score of two tems. Val Pusteria missed its opportunities. Jesenice, on the other hand, was very precise under the net. Slovenian team marked three goals in 13 minutes. Blaz Tomazevic opened the score after just a minute of play. Then the Red Steelers doubled with Erik Svetina (7.). The third goal was the work of Aleksandr Magovac. After the third goal change to goalkeepers for the Val Pusteria. Thomas Tragust left. Alexander Kinkelin started the game. The back-up of home team, born in 1986, was at its debut in a top senior competition. During the second half, Bruneck tried to reopen the game. But Jesenice was very solid in defense. During the third period the game is controlled by Jesenice easily as they fixed the final result with 4th goal of the game with Miha Brus (double powerplay).

Rittner Buam – EC Klagenfurt II 6:1 (3:0; 1:0; 2:1)
Fifth success for the "Rittner Buam" in five matches. The hosts have closed the match already in the first period. After only 16 minutes of play they were already in the lead for 3:0 thanks to the goals of Thomas Spinell, Simon Kostner and Julian Kostner. At this point the match was virtually decided. In the middle period, Alex Frei also entered in the list of the scorer. At the beginning of the third period, Philipp Wilhelmer surprised Patrick Killeen for the first and only goal of the visitors. When missing 10 minutes from the end, Andrea Lutz made the fifth goal of the Rittner Buam. For the home defender was the first seasonal goal with Renon's shirt. After 57 minutes Simon Kostner fixed the final result for 6:1 as he scored his 2th goal of the match.

S.G. Cortina Hafro - FBI VEU Feldkirch 4:3 OT (0:1; 2:1; 1:1; 1:0)
It was a true match between Cortina and Feldkirch. The game was immediately fought and it played face-open on both sides of the rink. Spectators enjoyed the game. The only first-time goal was at the end of powerplay. Niklas Tikkinen left the penalty bench and served Martin Mairitsch for the first austrian goal. During the second part, the game was always exciting. The special team of the hosts made the difference: the usual Riley Brace scored in powerplay after 34 minutes the tie. But before the end of the middle, there was other two goals. Francesco Adami took advantage Cortina but Feldkirch answered shortly with Reinthaler. During the third time, De Filippo performed at least two miraculous saved. Torquato served DeBiasio to find the right angle to beat Caffi (54.). However, the visitors didn’t give up as they found immediately 3-3 thanks the score of Diethard Winzig after a perfect assist of Christoph Draschkowitz. In the overtime Zachary Torquato ended the game after 34 seconds for the victory of home team (4:3).
