Ritten and Zell still unbeaten in the AHL

Sonntag, 24.September 2017 - 8:14 - Two teams of Alps Hockey League are still undefeated. The Rittner Buam booked a 5:2 over VEU Feldkirch and took the sole lead of the standings. Also the EK Zeller Eisbären are still undefeated, but forfeit their first point, as they found the decision against Pustertal in penalty shoot out. Asiago Hockey won the top-duel against Cortina with 3:2.

EC KAC II - EC Bregenzerwald 0:3
EC Bregenzerwald came with only three full line to Klagenfurt. Marko Kompain, Kai Fassler and Simeon Schwinger were missing . Bregenzerwald had some troubles in the first 20 minutes But Goaly Pisa Pietilä kept his goal clear. Julian Zwerger were responsible for the first goal of the night after 16 minutes. After that the fans had to wait till the third period for the next goal Daniel Ban got a perfect serve of his brother Christian and doubled the lead. 78 seconds before the end, KAC took full risk and took his goalie of. Juuso Mörsky took that opportunity and scored an empty netter for the result of 3:0.

EK Zeller Eisbären - HC Pustertal Wölfe 3:2 SO
The wolves started with high pressure. The Zeller Eisbären found their rhythm only at the end of the period, but also without success. But the start in the second period was way more effective. Christoph Herzog scored after only two minutes. It was a hard fought but fair game. The polar bears seemed to take control, but had to the equalizer just before the second break after a goal of Ringrose. This goal pusher the team of Pustertal. But it was Zell again who took the lead in the third in period. But the answer of Pustertal came quick and again by Ringrose. In the overtime it was Zell again who took control, but the puck didn’t found the way into the goal. In penalty shoot out Vala and Widen converted and Machreich saved two shots for the win. With that win Zel am See is still undefeated after four games.

FBI VEU Feldkirch - Rittner Buam 2:5
Ritten booked a good start into the game. After nine minutes Thomas Spinell captured the lead for the acting champ. Feldkirch managed to fight back and Steven Birnstill succeeded with the equalizer during poerplay. 50 seconds before the first break Feldkirch even captured the lead after a goal of Daniel Fakete. It was the first time Ritten was trailing this season. In the beginning of the second period Alex Frei took the opportunity of a powerplay situation and tied the game again. In the 35th minute it was Tommaso Traversa who converted a perfect pass of Andreas Lutz for the lead. Only three minutes Dan Tudin doubled the lead and brought the early decision. Feldkirch took the goaly off the ice and Roland Hofer created the result of 5:2 for Ritten.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - Red Bull Hockey Juniors 3:2
Without the injured players Dario Winkler, Lucas Birnbaum Salzburg started indisposed. After only two minutes Jesenice scored for the lead. Only three minutes later Kalan took advantage of a powerplay situation and doubles the lead. After that also Salzburg found the rhythm and created an open game. In the second period Samuel Witting scored the first goal Salzburg after assist of Östling. The team of head coach Matt Curley increased the pressure and was looking for the tie. Despite many chances for Salzburg, the puck didn’t find the way into the goal. The final period started with an early goal of Svetina for Jesenice. Salzburg fought back again and recreated the one goal difference after a goal of Klöckl. The game was open again, but none of the teams managed to score another goal. Salzburg had to take a close defeat again.

EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau - WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan 2:3 OT
In the third home ame Lustenau had to take the third 2:3 defeat. The game started with chances on both side. Both teams focused on the offense. The first 20 minutes were very attractive but without gals, as the goalies proofed their reflexes. In the second period, it was Philipp Koczera who captured the lead for Lustenau. Lustenau took control over the game, Sterzing struggled with a couple of penalties. But the hosts couldn’t convert their chances. The broncos acted way more active, as Jure Sotlar managed to tie the game in a powerplay situation. Only one minute later the Broncos even succeeded in taking the lead. In the final period Lusenau increased the pressure again and Hrdina tied the game again. Both teams had chances to decide the game, but the goalies did a good job. In the overtime Jure Sotlar brought the decision in powerplay.

HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - HK Olimpia Liubiana 0:5
Ljubljana conquered a never-discussed game in Wolkstein. The home team took 26 minutes of penalties. This could be a key of what happened in Pranives. Ljubljana scored the first goal with Maks Selan's powerplay. During the second period the game has been decided in favour of the guests. Slovene team found two more goals with Miha Zajc (double powerplay) and Matic Kralj. Max Selan hit again for 4:0, always in double powerplay. The home team has spent so many minutes in penalty killing as they got tired. Aljaz Uduc fixed the result with the last goal of the game. Ljubljana conquered his first ever away win in the AHL.

HC Fassa Falcons - EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 2:1 SO
Fassa won the 2th match of the season after the shutout. The Austrian team put a lot of pressure on the defense of Fassa, which answered well with the saves of Gianni Scola. The control of the game was in Austrian hands but the Fassa after the middle created some dangerous situation. The first time was without goals. During the second period the game was more balanced. Kitzbühel scored after shot by Henrik Eriksson but in reality the point was an unlucky deflection by Jiri Klimicek (23.). The Falcons reacted in three minutes. After just 17 seconds of powerplay, Devin Di Diomete scored the tie at the end of a fast action with on timer. During the third period the both tems played an open match with a lot of action but the regular time finished in tie (1:1). In the overtime there was the same history of the 3th period. Fassa won in the shutout with Devin Di Diomete's decisive point. The forward of Falcons closed the match with two goals.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - S.G. Cortina Hafro 3:2
Cortina lost the derby “veneto” in Asiago for the first defeat of the season. All goals of the match were score in powerplay. The first period was clearly in favor of the hosts who immediately took advantage after a minute of play. Phil Pietroniro made a powerplay goal with a blue line shot. Home team had a total control of the rink as they scored 2: 0 after the second powerplay in their favor. Giulio Scandella scored after a hard shot from the distance. During the second period the game was more balanced. Cortina hit a post and then in the middle of the game they made the first goal. Riley Brace scored in double powerplay. But before the end of the second period Asiago made an another powerplay goal. Alex Gellert scored after a nice pass of Anthony Nigro. During the third time Cortina put a lot of pressure minutes after minutes but they managed to score a single goal with Edoardo Caletti in double powerplay after 56 minutes of play. The last minutes of the game were glowing but without goals. Asiago now has the same points of Cortina (9).
