Intense pre-season weekend for AHL teams ahead

Freitag, 25.August 2017 - 16:30 - The Alps Hockey League preseason is well underway. This weekend there are some highlights on the agenda. While the Alperia Cup will be opened, two AHL sides participate in the four nations tournament in Kapfenberg. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey plays against Erste Bank Eishockey Liga team HCB Südtirol Alperia twice.

After opening their preseason with a shootout win against HC Neumarkt RIWEGA on Tuesday, EK Zeller Eisbären will now play for the first time in front of their home crowd when German side ESV Kaufbeuren comes to town. Neumarkt participates in the four nations tournament in Kapfenberg where they face the hosts in semis. As second AHL team, HDD SIJ Acroni plays Slovaks from Trnava. On Saturday there are they placement games.

Alperia Cup kick-off
WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan looks for revenge against Starbulls Rosenheim. In their last match four Zden?k Bahenský goals were not enough, now the Broncos go abroad for the return game. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey awaits two big games against HCB Südtirol Alperia. First, the AHL runners-up welcomes the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga side at home and just one day alter on Saturday, they travel to Bolzano. This day the foxes play their first game in front of their enthusiastic fans.

Two weeks after starting into training, champions Rittner Buam also play their first preseason games. On Friday the "Buam", who will miss some defender, face DEL2 club Ravensburg Towerstars on the road. There will be a live stream here. On Sunday Ritten opens Alperia Cup with a home game against AHL rivals HC Pustertal.

Vorarlberg teams face teams from Switzerland
While EC Bregenzerwald tries to make the lastest 8:0 defeat against EV Zug Academy forget, EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel opened their preseason with a newly formed team. On "Adler Rookie Day" German SC Deggendorf comes to Sportpark Kitzbühel.

EC-KAC has two preseason games against newly-found farmteam of UPC Vienna Capitals who participate in Hungarian Erste Liga. The hockey fans in Vorarlberg see two more meetings with Swiss clubs. On Saturday EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau hosts EHC Chur and one day later EC Will pays FBI VEU Feldkirch a visit.

Transfer summary
Asiago made some roster additions in the last few days. The AHL runners-up signed 22 year-old defender Gregor Lanzinger, who spent the last season with Hohenems in Austria, and Simone Olivero. The 22-year-old forward returns from Fassa where he had seven points in 38 games last campaign. The club also extended contracts with Mike Sullivan, Fabrizio Pace and Marco Magnabosco.

After palying two seasons for the under 19 of EC Peiting, 19-year-old forward Andre Vigl returns to Fassa. In addition, Patrick Rizzo signed a contract extension with Hafro Cortina Hockey. The 29-year-old forward earned 19 points in 44 AHL games last season.
