Dienstag, 22.August 2017 - 5:41 - In 19 days the second season of the Alps Hockey League starts and the teams are already full in their preseason program. Six friendly games were scheduled for this weekend with mostly positive outcome. The EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau and the EC Bregenzerwald booked wins against Swiss teams.

Also the VEU Feldkirch booked a success against a Swiss team, they won in penalty shoot out against EHC Dübendorf. Two games had the WSV Sterzing Broncos on the program. In the first one, they had to take a bitter 8:0 defeat against EBEL Team Bozen, only a few days later, they fought into the penalty shootout against the Starbulls Rosenheim, but also had to take a defeat. The only AHL internal test was played between the HC Pustertal and HDD SIJ Jesenice with the better end for Pustertal.

VEU with successful preseason start against Dübendorf
With a close win in penalty shootout against EHC Dübendorf, the VEU Feldkirch started the preseason campaign. The guests of Switzerland took the lead right in the beginning of the game. Bun Birnstill managed to tie game, before Deniis Sticha succeeded with the leading goal. In the second period both teams couldn’t score a goal. In the final period Dübendorf fought for the tie and succeeded. At the penalty shootout Patrick Ratz scored the deciding penalty.

Close penalty defeat for the Broncos
In the second game in two days the Broncos lost against the Starbulls Rosenheim with 4:5 after penalty shootout. The guests took the lead in 10th minute after a defensive mistake of the Broncos. In the second period the Broncos had some big chances and succeeded with tie. In the 39th minute the Starbulls striked again, when Bucheli was left alone by the Broncos Defense. After only 25 seconds in the last period it was again Bahensky who tied the game for the Broncos. Only four minutes before the end Laamassari scored into the open goal and moments later Zick scored for the 4:2. But the Broncos came back. During Powerplay Bahensky reduced to 3:4 and only moments later he scored the tie from the same position. During the penalty shootout Fröhlich scored the deciding goal for the Starbulls.

Only two days before, the Broncos lost against the EBEL team from Bozen with 0:8: In the first period the Broncos kept pace with Bozen, before the EBEL team overran the AHL Team.

Pustertal won against Jesenice at AHL internal test
The first preseason game of the wolves was very successful. For Jesenice it was already the second test, after the 7:1 win against KAC2. The first period of the game was a typical preseason game. High speed hockey, but only less successful combination. The guests managed to take the quick 1:0 lead. In the middle of the period Pustertal had some good chances, but didn’t manage to score. In the second period, the quality of the game increased. Raphael Andergassen scored the tie for the wolves. In the final 20 minutes Eric Johansson scored his first goal for Pustertal. He deflected a shot from the blue line for the 2:1 result.

Lustenau won against La Chaux de Fonds
The EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau absolved a positive first test against the favorized Swiss team La Chaux de Fonds. It was technical high class hockey game against a good team. Lustenau convinced right from the beginning and kept the pace. Newcomer Philip Putnik scored the first goal of the preseason for Lustenau. In the second period the swiss team took control, but didn’t manage to score. In the final period Lustenau took the 2:0 lead after a goal of Thomas Auer. Eight minutes before the end also La Chaux de Fonds scored the first goal. In the last minutes they took full risk , which was penalized by Philipp Koczera. One Second before the end La Chaux de Fonds narrowed the gap to 2:3.

Strong finish for Bregenzerwald against Chur
Bregenzerwald already trailed by 2:4 before the end oft he last period, but managed to take win at the end. Bregenzerwald booked the better start and Daniel Ban scored the 1:0. Chur tied the game in the 13th minute after a blueliner. In the second period the Swiss team captured the lead and even increased it at the 26th minute. Daniel Ban managed to narrow the gap to 2:3 only seconds later. But Chur recreated the two goals lead still in the second period. Bregenzerwald started with full power in the last period, Wolf scored the 3:4and Haidinger even tied the game moments later. In the 48th minute captain Christian Ban captured the lead again. But Chur managed to tie one more time, before Christian Haidinger decided the game. Christian Ban produced the result of 7:5 with an empty netter at the end.
